But what is the benifit of putting the spoiler in the title? Who is that helping.

I always kid my wife about some of the cop shows she watches. "They caught the bad guy" or "They got their just desserts."
Spoilers don't bother me in the least.
I have found when I accidently have read spoilers that I still enjoy the show. The miracle was that I did not know about the movie where the kid sees dead people until I saw it probably a year after it was shown in theaters.

I think within a week, the spoiler should NOT be in the headline of a news article
That would solve like 90% of it.

I think i read EW's policy is day of or day after for not doing spoilers in the headline.
