Just noticed three movies. Apparently ones I'd ordered for free in 2007, but I only remember watching 2 of them. Called Amazon and the Unbox support person was in the dark on what this was. Should have thought to check here first.

Has anyone found out why this happened yet? I haven't been able to give anyone my TSN, but I am thinking it doesn't really matter at this point......

Now they are starting to repeat. The first vid that was downloaded 3 weeks ago today was downloaded again this afternoon. I can't remember if I started the timer on this title so that it would vanish on its own or if I just deleted it myself.

I'm having the same thing happen on my S2 (and not on my HD, which I activated in, I believe, 2008). It's downloading the same two movies from Amazon that I rented prior to 2008. Has been happening for weeks maybe, and 3 times just in the past day.

Are the mentioned Tivo representatives real? I'm not keen on handing out my info to random people lol.

Call Amazon. They have a ticket open for this and they can just add your box to the ticket.

After the 7 TV shows appeared on my S3 for the third time yesterday I thought I'd finally gotten rid of them for good. I went to my Amazon account and DELETED the shows from my library! Less than 8 hours later they were back! At this rate I'm expecting Time Warner to shut down my internet for being a band-with hog! There must be a solution more immediate than a trouble ticket!

My 7 shows (4 TV, 3 movie rentals) came back yesterday (for the third time) as well. This after I spoke to Amazon on Sunday and was told there were no programs in my download queue.

I wonder if unlinking my account will "fix" this. I'm guessing not.

Edit: There's also disabling downloads for the box at TiVo.com/mma, but that will stop all downloads, not just these ones.

The same first four videos downloaded again on Monday and I deleted them, but left them in the RDF. Today, two of those videos were downloaded again and one of the second set of four videos is being downloaded as I type this.

I'll keep posting these updates for as long as this problem continues.

    Yep. They downloaded again today.

I emailed Amazon and they said they are still working with TiVo on the problem. I think I'll call TiVo since the requests seem to be coming from that side.

Has anyone tried unlinking the TiVo accounts from Amazon?

I called TiVo and they had never heard of the problem.

    Edit:
He found some info on it. Apparently they started tracking the problem no May 13th (seems hard to believe). He recommended delinking and relinking the Amazon account so I tried that. I'll see what happens.

If that doesn't work, I'm disabling downloads on that box.

    Hey folks,

TiVo and Amazon are now aware of this issue and investigating. We're not yet sure what's causing this issue, but it appears to be very intermittent. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience; I'll keep you updated.

    Best regards,
    Stephen

It was intermittent, but it's been becoming more and more frequent.

I had 7 programs download April 25. I deleted 6 of them on about April 27 (leaving 1 there). The 6 I deleted downloaded again 2 weeks later on May 9. I deleted all of them this time and all 7 downloaded again 4 days later on May 13. I deleted them all on May 14 and 2 of them downloaded the next day on May 15. So the intervals between downloads is getting shorter.

When I spoke to Amazon they told me there was nothing queued for download on that box at that time.

    TiVo Customers,

We wanted to let you know TiVo is aware of this issue and we are working with Amazon to determine root cause. Due to the nature of this issue, its possible you will likely see repeated downloads of old assets. Please let us know if you have any questions.

    Thank you,

    Kaitlyn

I got an email from Amazon stating that TiVo has found a problem with one of their servers incorrectly making these requests and hope to have it fixed soon.

My question would be why is TiVo holding on to request data from 6 years ago at all? One would think TiVo would hold on to the request data long enough to make sure the download occurred and then wipe it.

it's been a whole week since anything has downloaded again. I hope this means that they at least have a handle on the situation.

Just to show that this sort of thing has been going on for years, here's the thread I started on getting old outdated messages from tivo.

and iirc, I got another message that said the same thing close to a year after that one.

I guess they haven't resolved the problem, another download today. This must be the 4th time since this all started that this title has shown up on my Tivo.

Sorry about that, scandia. TiVo and Amazon are still working on this. (It's a joint issue.) We were able to put in place a workaround that decreased the likelihood of this issue coming up, but we did see a blip today (for 9 minutes), which caused a small number of customers to experience the issue again. We are working to put in place a much more permanent fix soon. Sorry again.

TiVo and Amazon do expire download requests much as you describe, but this bug affects items that you purchased, and your license data for those is permanent.

But 7 of the 8 videos that have been repeatedly re-downloading to my Tivo have been rentals and that includes the latest repeat download that is still sitting on my Tivo.
