Well, American shows that appear by magic are usually 42 minutes...
I'm now hearing 9/1 also.
9/1 falls on Labor Day weekend. I wonder if BBC America would air the first episode on a holiday weekend? It can't be good for ratings.
For Doctor Who? You underestimate the power of the Time Lord.
It also falls on WorldCon weekend, which means a sizable portion of its audience would be gathered around a small number of TVs/laptops in Chicago...
I got a time machine to watch it later.
Now, if you had a time machine to watch it earlier, I'd be impressed!
I wish they'd do us a favor and just clip six minutes off whatever crap show they broadcast right after DW.
from the BBCA facebook feed:
Doctor Who Confidential has been cancelled. I'll really miss it.
And in the ATL at DragonCon.
Given the time difference, the Chicon 7 attendees should have plenty of time to um, acquire and watch it prior to the Masquerade.
Can the Syfy web site (Blastr.com)'s writers be any less competent?
Headline: You can stop mourning The Ponds: They're getting their own series
Ooh! How exciting!
Paragraph 1: The Doctor's (Matt Smith) faithful companions Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darville) are—wait for it—getting their very own series!
Yes, exciting! Count me in!
Paragraph 2: Doctor Who fans will get to catch up with the Ponds in their own miniseries, titled Pond Life.
Oh. A...mini-series. Well, I guess that's still kind of exciting.
Paragraph 3: The five-part short episodes series will be shown online over five days before Doctor Who's Sept. 1 start date.
%@$# you, Syfy web site writer.
Doesn't look like Pond Life is on BBC America, looks like they're intentionally baiting me to acquire it through other means.
"The five-part short episodes series will be shown online"
It worked on robojerk even with your warning!
So, how much is cut out of a normal episode?
I've only recently watched one episode via other means "The Eleventh Hour" and there was a significant difference - I still had the SD version on the DVR so flipped back and forth on a couple spots. There were some significant things they cut out, most notably some of the dialog from Prisoner 0 near the end and when Amy is given a choice to help him or not.
Is this first episode coming up going to be as badly chopped?
Nobody knows (yet), however I'm it wouldn't surprise me if the premiere was a full hour in the UK, and "edited for the US audience" here.
I'm so confused about the start date. Granted, this hasn't been one of my best days, but does anyone know when it will turn up on BBC America using comcast? Saturday night is our regular d&d game, so I know I won't catch the initial showing whether its' the first or the eighth, but ....
This series is supposed to be all standalone episodes right ? Big powerful, wonderful but standalone eps. No series thread at all or just a smaller one ?
