Dexter certainly had himself a good day (or couple of days).

He managed to get Louis fired, dumped by his girlfriend, and (indirectly) killed.

Then, right after he told Deb that what he does helps people by getting killers off the street, the killer Dexter was stalking (and Deb warned Dexter off of) kills a girl and gets away, right under Deb's nose. Oh, and Dexter saves Deb's life from the killer. So she lets him move back to his own apartment.

I did not like the killer's escape. I would have expected Deb to handcuff him (even if he was unconscious), and then I would have expected her to run after him when they realized he was out of the house. And Deb immediately calling a car to watch the cemetery would have been the obvious thing to do.

What is the deal with Sarah, ummm, I mean Hannah? First she tells Dexter she prefers Mr. Morgan, then asks him to call her Hannah. Is Dexter's drop of blood on the plant significant in some way?

I think that was his lizard brain going off one way (she's also a killer) or the other (he has the hots for her).

Perhaps it was HER lizard brain telling her, mmmmm, serial killer, that's hot.

Hannah in the greenhouse reminded me of this picture:

    WIN!

I think that will be the deal or one of the deals with Hannah, her "lizard brain" makes her attracted to killers.

I agree with your last point; I guess she was too wound up to think of that.

However, Dexter and Deb didn't handcuff him because they immediately went to check to be sure the girl was OK. They probably thought he would be out longer than 10 seconds or so. And they did start to go after him but Dexter heard his car peeling out before they even got to the stairs.

ETA: My annoyance was that Deb didn't call for backup before entering the house. I mean, really, that's Cop 101, isn't it?

A good episode. This season seems to be moving faster than normal. They already cleaned out the video game guy (I was sure he was going to come back at Dexter--his work on his old partner (making him out to be a pedophile) was serious s#$t. But drilling holes in the boat with an electric drill? How lame can you get). And it looks like Deb is going to go with "I'm just going to forget that I know what you're up to, so don't shove it in my face--but I still think you're skeevey".

I wasn't sure about the Russian as this season's big bad, but I loved the bar scene between him and Dexter. Maybe he'll be OK.

I think Dexter is going to have some heat come down on him for Lewis' disappearance. They really made a point of showing his blood getting on Dexter's boat.

Perhaps video game dude was going to drill some holes in the fuel tank(s).. cause a leak, lots of gasoline vapor in the hold.. start engine--- KABOOM!

But yeah, a couple of drilled holes isn't going to sink that boat very fast.. and so what? Dexter has insurance and gets a new boat.

Glad to see video game guy gone. It was a stupid character.

But then there is that blood spatter on the boat left behind.

It only takes one to secure the prisoner while the other goes looking for the girl. It was stupid not to secure the prisoner -- unbelievably bad.

As for the car, they could have jumped in their own car to chase him. Or run down the block to at least try to get an ID on the car he was in. Ridiculous that they did not even try.

I guess the writers wanted him to get away cleanly, but they were too lazy to write a believable escape.

He said he was going to sink it; I don't think he any idea of wanting to kill Dexter with a booby trap. Who knows. Doesn't matter. I think he was just an idiot. As for the blood spatter, I bet Dexter will find it and get suspicious; I don't think they'll use it to get Dexter into trouble.

Good episode and season so far. Glad things are moving along and not fixating on one or two things. Though in hindsight the whole Speltzer business was a fairly obvious, and easy, path to bring about Deb's rethinking of Dexter's "dark passenger". Wonder if they have the balls to eventually have Speltzer kill Deb? Oh how ironic that would be.

Glad Louis is gone too, but hope that his disappearance doesn't turn into something even more annoying than him.

    Da boogie...
I'm glad I didn't give up on this show. This season is, hopefully, turning into a great one. Although I did see Deb feeling guilty of an inevitable murder.

Also sad to see Lewis go. I thought he was a great antagonist.

    People's...
I don't see a problem because she might have done so during a moment we didn't see (because the camera had cut to Dexter), and it wouldn't change anything, because they wouldn't've gotten there in time to change the outcome, just to be quicker at helping with the cleanup. (Of course, this is only true because the writers were screwing with us by having us see Dexter leave far too late to get there in time for what we saw, if we assume we were seeing the stories in real time and his house wasn't a half block from the mausoleum; but that's a common trick in TV.)

I have a different reason why it didn't bother me... she's a crappy cop and almost every episode since I have posted that here we see a reason why that's the case.

This is the most sensible explanation for Deb's success in the show. I wish it had occurred to me.

I also never thought Laguerta was a good cop either. It's no surprise she's in management. I don't think they cast her very well. I just can't see her being a good cop or a good detective. Just a good middle-manager.

That just cancels it out too easily. The blood will lead to more suspense ... maybe Deb finds it and starts thinking that Dex offed Louis despite his denials.

That's where I was thinking it was going.. My alternate theory would be LaGuerta, but she doesn't have the scent yet.

I finally watched this ep last night. Wow, what an evolution with Deb (sort of).

So many choices as to what is going to happen about the blood splatter on the boat.

I'm still gunning to have Deb killed by one of the crooks, at the end of this season (after a whole bunch more drama with her learning more and more about Dex), then Dexter spends the last season getting him, then he and the kid blow town for their new life. :) I just cannot imagine that they will have him get 'caught'.
