I like his toys. I want that Kabuki statue.

Can I have it when he dies?

I thought the opening conversation with Dexter and Deb was spectacular. Her reactions were spot-on. Up to and including the punch. :D

And when she said, "I must be the world's worst detective," I thought of all the Deb-detractors here. Cheering. ;)

She's bad, but definitely not the worst. That would be most/all of her coworkers.

The fact that there's still almost two full seasons left is what makes these last couple of episodes so surprising--they didn't drop that ball after that cliffhanger AT ALL--they're going for it all the way. The opening scene in this one was excellent--they left pretty much nothing out there. She connected him as the Bay Harbor Butcher (meaning he framed her partner as a serial killer), he told her about the Code and the fact that Harry knew what he was the whole time and even taught him a way to live with it.

Given all that I just don't see how Deb can possibly survive 22 more episodes. I think the steps she's taking right now are plausible given the completely absurd position she's in--her entire world just collapsed in a single day, so it's gonna take a little time before she snaps out of the daze and is thinking more clearly. Of course her plan to watch him 24/7 is ridiculous, but she's desperate right now and isn't thinking right. And also has no clue whatsoever what she's dealing with (really, who would?). I think anyone's first instinct would be to protect a family member, but eventually reason returns to the equation, not to mention conscience, which you can only ignore for so long.

Wondering what Deb's fate will be now has brought the show back to "I can't wait to see the next episode of Dexter!" which hasn't been a thing since season four. They made the right call. And the fact that's not even the last season makes it a lot more interesting.

*The Louis thing is definitely weird, but interesting enough. It adds another problem to Dexter's list, which is growing every second. His worst fear is now playing out, plus he has a psychotic intern screwing with him (I seriously laughed when he was at Dex's again--psycho), Laguerta is investigating the BHB situation, and now he's pissed off the head of a Russian mob crime syndicate... Good times!

I was thinking the exact same thing--he looks horrible. Given the drastic change it seems like there's no way he's not either sick or on drugs. His face is totally sunken in. He needs some nutrients.

Side-note, I completely forgot Yvonne Strahovski is on the show this year...

    Winning!!

Huh? Doakes was LaGuerta's partner, not Deb's.

The one thing that gives me pause is the theory somebody came up with last week that Dexter gets caught this year, and spends next year in prison.

The look on his face in the briefing room when Deb was talking about the serial killer behind bars made me think of that.

I'm one that thought Deb would find out but thought it would be much closer to the end of the series. The fact it happened so quickly with so many episodes left leaves open a lot of possibilties. Love it.

I don't see Dexter in jail. Maybe it's because I truly truly don't WANT to see Dexter get caught. When it ends :( I hope to see Dexter riding off into the sunset to whatever is next for him.

I agree about the actor who plays Quinn. Just last night I watched this ep and was distracted by how gaunt he looked, but then I detected what appeared to be some shading make up so maybe they are just having him to LOOK that way.

I see Deb getting killed, but not by Dexter. I envision some sort of 'cops on crooks' showdown where she ends up taking fire at the end of this season. That would take us through next season with Dexter having somebody to go after in retaliation, then he blows town. Anyway, that's the way it looks in my head.

As for the kid (Louis is it?) I see him getting it, at the hands of Dexter, this season but first we need to find out what the REAL deal is with him. I've been wondering for a while now and it seems like his storyline has been back-burnered in lieu of better storylines the last couple of seasons. Or something...

As for Dexter leaving him on the bench, maybe that will give him the impression that he DOES have something to fear and maybe he needs to stop facking with Dexter (although I don't really think he will). I actually expected, when Dexter opened the back of the vehicle, to see bags of Louis in there. But I guess it would be too soon for that, so good thing that Dexter is in charge of these things and not me. :)

I just wish they'd get rid of Dexter's son. That would really free him and the show up...much like in real life ;)

My memory is really fuzzy on this and I could be dead wrong but isn't the nanny essentially living at Dexter's place in an expanded apartment? Isn't that why Louis mentioned something about Dexter's side of the apartment?

No, he wasn't a Gotham cop. He was a cop in the city on the other side of the bridge.
