    Yes, I am a bonehead!

I took my first ski trip in about 13 years and turned off the heat just like I turn off the AC in the summer. When I got home the inside temp in my place was 40 degrees!

Now that my the subject of my intelligence/common sense (or lack thereof) is out of the way, here's what I noticed:

When I turned on my TV both my Series 2 and Premiere were extremely slow to respond to the commands from my remote. I had to push the button on my remote a little harder before I saw that the lights on the front of the TiVo's respond to the remote's command. Once the inside temp started to reach a comfortable 50-something degrees(!) both TiVos started to respond normally.

Does cold temperature affect TiVo's functionality?

more likely the buttons on the remote did not work as well in the cold.

You need to put winter weight grease in the hard drive bearings.
