How many times do we have to hear the same joke? It's just not funny anymore. Even if it's Hal and Lois acting it out.
The Newhart ending was the best ending ever. So while I don't think any other ending series should do it, I'm perfectly Ok with them being done as an online video or SNL skit.
That said, if Dexter had ended with David from Six Feet Under recounting his dream about being a serial killer (which involved a lot of handling dead bodies ) that might have been better than the actual ending.
If the Seinfeld finale had ended with Jerry waking up from a nightmare in bed next to Suzanne Pleshette, I would have like it better than the real finale.
You realize, of course, it was aired 23 years ago, referencing a show that had gone off the air 12 years before that.
Much of Breaking Bad's audience never saw them. This is just a modernized version. Sure it was a ripoff, but it was fun and worth watching.
Yes, of course I realize that. People have been making that same MitM joke well before the end of BB was even announced. And people are still making the joke as if they're the first ones to think it up. It was absolutely brilliant when Bob Newhart did it the first time. Ever since then, it's become the defacto "alternate ending" TV Trope for essentially every significant TV series. It's just not funny anymore*.
* Although I do agree with the comments above about Seinfeld and Dexter.
Whatever. Old joke or not, it was still funny to see it acted out.
It was painfully funny to see them trying to be Hal and Lois again.
It's just old, let it r.i.p.
video is blocked ( copyright)
Sony is blocking a parody video based on copyright? What a bunch of pathetic, self-important, loser lawyers who don't actually know the law.
I'd like to know exactly what they think is a copyright violation? MitM or BB or both? Insane.
Umm, I think it's Sony enforcing their copyright on the video itself, and not allowing some rando on Youtube to post it without their permission. They produced it for the DVD/BR set. Yes it's a parody, but it's their parody.
Oh, if that's the case, I can't find the original video!
Sony lawyers are still ****tards.
The original video will be included in the DVD box set which is due out later this month. It got leaked to youtube early and the Sony lawyers weren't happy about it.
Ok, I retract what I said. Except for the part about lawyers.
