Yeah, it's pretty rare to see such a gap between how smart somebody thinks they are and how smart they really are. But she may be the champ.

That's what I meant - how the writers merge the two characters' storylines knowing that Capone has to survive (and thrive)

    Almost anything can happen?

Can Nucky die? Can any of the NY boyz bite the dust? Capone/Torro?

There's going to be a winner and loser. Is there any suspense concerning who that loser is going to be and whether he lives? Yes how he dies and who else goes with him (Chalky/Eli/Richard) might be a mystery, but no... it's far from anything can happen.

Gillian depends on her overwhelming power to get men to do her bidding. I dunno where telling the guy he's an ugly freak with no chance at a real life is supposed to work out for her.

She really doesn't get how tough, moral in his way, and comfortable in his own skin that Harrow is.

She just figures that Gyp is more powerful and is taking over and she is adjusting.

I think it's because Gillian has low self esteem (so there's enjoyment) plus she's trying to survive in her world where the more powerful have always squashed anyone underneath them.

Gillian views Richard hired help and less than a man because of the way he looks. She is so driven by maintaining the balance of who ranks higher that she would never consider Richard a worthy ally VS Gip who she perceives is higher up in the chain than her.

Gillian figures she can handle Gyp as well as she handled Charlie Luciano and the Commodore.

Well I guess we found out quickly that Nucky realised their affair.

Isn't Tommy heir to the mansion and whatever else the Commodore left behind? I can see why Gillian doesn't want Richard "adopting" him. That's her meal ticket since she's Tommy's guardian.

Maybe but we never even heard that the Commodore acknowledged that Jimmy was his son. At the start Jimmy didn't know who his father was. Jimmy thought his father was Nucky.

Since we saw that Gillian was signing Jimmy's name to the checks we can surmise that he got the estate.

Jimmy knew who his father was. They discussed it many times in season one.

That may have been the best hour of TV I've watched in a LONG time. Maybe since the Game of Thrones episode in S1 where a main character we don't expect to dies. Anyway, the war coming is going to be a doozy. I loved Capone coming in like the cavalry at the end. And Nucky is now going to owe his brother something fierce if he wins the war. I like how the Chalky / Nucky relationship got fleshed out in the episode. I always like the Chalky character because despite him being who he is, a bootlegger, he has principles, and he's loyal.

And I'm so sick of Margaret and her scheming. Her character just annoys me now, so her not being in it, made it all the better.

BTW if Steve Buschemi doesn't get an Emmy nomination this year, especially based on that episode, it's a crime. In fact, he should win.
