My Thoughts - From the duplicated thread I took too long to type up.

-I wondered in the performance thread if this was the week Phillip or Colton landed in the bottom 3. I was right about that but I never expected one of them to actually be voted off.

-This is a huge boon to Phillip. If there is an army of teenage girls out there voting he is no longer splitting votes with Colton.

    - I had a feeling Jessica would be safe after almost being eliminated. Those who get saved seem to ride that save for a week or two.

    - Jimmy and I are in complete agreement on Elise. She needs to be rocking out and building on the audience that loved her Led Zepplin performance.

    - I still don't understand the love for Joshua

    - I imagine Ninny is banging her head against a wall knowing she has to watch Hollie again next week. But I think Hollie earned it last night.

    - I think Jimmy might be on to one of the issues with Jessica. She is only 16 but both Hollie and Skylar (both 18) have more youthful enthusiasm.

    - I honestly believe Skylar is the front runner now.

I adore Hollie. Her voice is very pleasant and she is just a little sprite. :)
There is nothing to dislike about her. She is pocket-sized!

...and she's a Brit! We ALL know Brits are best ;)

Seriously, though. I'm sure this means a bigger bite at the record sales cherry as I'm sure it's being promoted like heck in the UK, which opens up Europe too.

I don't think Hollie has a chance of winning, but I kinda like her (sorry, Sheryl) and agree that she's not out of tune most of the time.

Colton really screwed the pooch with September and deserved to go for just that. Still, a class act when he WAS booted. Kudos to him for that.

How do you all feel about Colton entering the competition randomly like he did?

Maybe that's part of why I haven't ever liked him much. I know, it's a singing competition and that's what really matters but I can't help thinking about it. I'm sure his sister was supportive in the end but that had to kinda tick her off at least a little bit.

I mean, if you went along with a sibling to a job interview/movie casting/whatever and the people in charge wanted you to try out, woudl you? I just couldn't do it knowing I went along with someone else just for support.

Just a random question on a slow work day.

Queen week should be interesting next week. Curious to see what songs people choose. I think it may push some of them to their limits.

All I am hoping is that Phillip doesn't completely change an arrangement. He doesn't have the range to sing many Queen songs as written but I don't know how well it would go over to change them too much.

I was talking about this with my boss this morning. I think the fact that they pulled her from the audience and reminded everyone that he wasn't even intending to audition in the first place, topped with his comments of "I don't care" after his performance and the fact that he was not great at all this week and then even more topped by him singing Gaga all combined to turn his voters against him.

It's not a new story- David Cook went to his audition to help bolster his brother's confidence to try out.
Kris Allen went on a whim as part of a boys road trip.
Probably many more, that's just off the top of my head.
They are casting a TV show and use whomever fits the spot they want to fill.

I hadn't heard of David Cooks story. So he didn't sign up to audition?
Kris Allen signed up to audition.

What Colton did was, as far as I know, different. But maybe it was all "planned" behind the scenes and I wouldn't doubt that he was in on it as well as his sister.

    Now you're catching on ... :D
Nobody just stumbles in and the real auditions are far different than what is portrayed on the air.

Hollie can sing very well. She definitely did better than Colton on Wednesday night this week.

I would have rather it been Jessica personally, great vocals until this week, but disconnected.

Please, please, please let Jessica sing 'Somebody to Love.' That could be pure awesomeness.

That's the song the Queen Extravaganza tribute band is doing on results night so I doubt any of the contestants will be given a shot at it.

That is a shame. It really is the most mainstream Queen song that some of the big singers could sink their teeth into.

I have tried to come up with song choices for the remaining 6 and am coming up blank. I thought Somebody to love was a lock for someone.

We are The Champions will probably get sung.

Love Of My Life would be a good choice.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love is radio friendly but not the best song for impressing the audience.

You're My Best Friend might not be a bad choice.

Will anyone have the guts to attempt Bohemian Rhapsody? I don't see any of them pulling that off.

The one person I question the most is Phil. I am not sure his growl is going to work on any Queen song.

He is, but only for a very limited number of appearances. (I think only 2 or 3 have been announced.)

(Note that Queen is *not* performing on Idol... the Queen Extravaganza is, though.)

No. He has nothing to do with this group. The (main) lead singer for QE is Marc Martel, formerly of the band Downhere.

Jessica - Spread Your Wings or Don't Stop Me Now

Elise - Tie Your Mother Down or FBG

Skylar - FBG or Crazy Little Thing Called Love

P2 - Get Down, Make Love or Another One Bites the Dust

Joshua - The Show Must Go On (sans vacuum cleaner)

Hollie - We are the Champions or I Want it All

If anbody tries Bohemian it should be Elise....but I be they do that as a results show group song.....
