Good news that it got renewed, and while I'm not happy about the delay, "early 2015" is only 6 months away. Not so bad.

Actually, the article states that S2 will be 13 episodes, making for a total of 23 episodes between seasons 1 and 2.

Also, according to Sepinwall, Vince Gilligan has now joined the show full time as co-showrunner. Previously, he was only directing the pilot and getting a co-creator credit.

I had wondered whether Gilligan maybe wanted to just leave that world behind and not be involved with the spinoff, and that made me question what the quality would be. But now that he's on board full time tells me all I need to know.

Renewal even before the premiere should be good news.

Of course, "Joey" had a two-season guarantee, didn't it?

    Cool.

Imagine how they can fill in the plot points in Breaking Bad that were off-screen, like Huel getting the Ricin cigarette from Jesse and Saul's staff getting the kid's lunch schedule to Walt.

Also Jesse and Huel are still around post Breaking Bad, and could hear from Saul while he's in hiding.

This news, and Vince Gilligan's stepped-up involvement, have me really looking forward to this show. It would be awesome if this somehow becomes the "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" to Breaking Bad's "Hamlet."

So is this to be a "dark comedy" or along the lines of however "Breaking Bad" was categorized?

Premiere date appears to be February 8, 2015. Set my SP this morning! (I love the ability to do that several months before it appears in the guide)
