3D Xfinity VOD is a mess...

I'm not sure how this got by the testers, but if you try to watch 3D VOD from Xfinity in Side by Side mode, the vertical black bands that others are talking about in the "Comcast /Xfinity OnDemand VOD not full screen?" thread actually occur on the left in one image and the right in the other. If you alternately close your left and right eye while wearing the 3D glasses you'll see that the black band jumps from the left to the right side of the display. What this means is that only the COMMON area is in 3D and the banding is very noticeable (i.e. darker and in 2D) on both the left and the righ side of the actual image where the banding is. It makes trying to watch in 3D really uncomfortable! And, about 1/4 of the image is messed up on the left and right sides because of this odd overlap or missing info.

Can anyone else confirm this and maybe describe it better than I did?

I agree, watched 3D this morning and the 2 inch bars on the Side are 2D.

I do not have 720 enabled that I know of....I've got a Sony 46HX929 tv and I typically watch everything in the highest quality that I can throw at it.

Same here, I tried all the formats and then she had me test directly connecting it to my TV. None works, just replied to her Email, will let you know if I find anything out.

    Final Word:

Thanks for checking, and sorry for all this work. I will pass this information on to engineering.

    Best,
    --Margret

Soo hopefully something good can come out of this. Its not a big deal for 2D content for me, I would like to do a side by side comparison of the same VOD content coming through a motorola box and a Tivo. To see if over scan occurs or not.

I can confirm that when you open up and watch Xfinity content the Tivo switches to 720p output regardless if you have it enabled or not....I am not surprised if comcast only outputs VOD in 720p - file size would be smaller than 1080i correct?

Good work! Thanks for passing that up to Margaret and I hope they can remedy it.

I just got xfinity on demand today in Denver area and have the 3d content listed - but when I play it I see 2 similar images one on the left side of the screen and one on the right side of the screen.

Am I missing some setting on my premier or my samsung 3d tv??

    Thanks
