Roamio Plus - 6 Tuners combining recordings

Very weird Roamio recording issue tonight with multiple recordings on the same channel.

I have the following setup as Season Passes and these were all set to record this evening. All passes are padded on the end by 2 minutes. Overlap protection is ON. When I looked at my Todo list I was wondering why Tivo wasn't listing a conflict…..but what I found was really odd:

(all program times actual guide times. 2 minutes padding added onto end in season pass settings)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Channel 806
8:30 - 9:00

Top Gear - Channel 872
9:00 - 10:00

19 Kids and Counting - Channel 867
9:00 - 9:30

New Girl - Channel 806
9:00 - 9:30

The Goldbergs - Channel 805
9:01 - 9:31

The Mindy Project - Channel 806
9:30 - 10:00

19 Kids and Counting - Channel 867
9:30 - 10:00

Trophy Wife - Channel 805
9:31 - 10:00

I only put in the Brooklyn Nine-Nine because I got a weird recording, but that doesn't really play into the recording issue.

As you can see above…..I have 4 shows recording at once in the 9-9:30 block. All would extend over by 2 minutes, so when 9:30 rolled around, The Mindy Project should have used the 5th tuner, and 19 Kids should have used the 6th tuner. Now…..when Trophy Wife started at 9:31, all 6 tuners SHOULD have been busy…..but somehow everything was recorded.

Here's what the Tivo actually recorded…….all the weirdness is with the Fox shows (Channel 806).

Brooklyn Nine-Nine shows the program recorded time of 54 minutes (in the blue program bar). However, the actual time recorded (the green play bar) was only 32 minutes (as it should have been)
Top Gear recorded fine - 1hr 2 min
Both 19 Kids and Counting recorded fine - 32 minutes each
The Goldbergs recorded fine - 32 minutes
Trophy Wife recorded fine - 31 minutes

Now the weird stuff:
New Girl shows 1 hr 23 minutes in the blue bar. Actual recording time INCLUDED Brooklyn Nine-Nine AND New Girl for a total of 1 hr
The Mindy Project shows 1 hr 53 minutes in the blue bar. Actual recording time INCLUDES Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl AND The Mindy Project for a total of 1 hr 30 min

Definitely weird stuff all going on with those back to back recordings.

Anyone seen anything like this before?

I saw a weird glitch last week where there was a weird hiccup at the beginning of The Mindy Project right where the padding on New Girl left off. Also the padding on the The New Girl was only 1:36 and not the full 2 minutes I requested. Although I thought it might have been a hiccup in the signal so I didn't think much of it.

Check out this thread and see if it matches up with what your seeing.
Nope....I have none of those issues. I have all Tivo functions in the long recordings. It's just that it combined them.

I have that too....from this thread:http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=508756

I am seeing the audio video glitch around when the other recording stops (actually with mine it's about 1 min into the show).

So far seeing it on back to back shows from the same channel.

Signal here is strong.

Very weird.....it's like to combined program data. So the recording I have for The Mindy Project is actually all 3 shows in one recording. Seems to be just because all the recordings were on the same channel back to back AND there was a point where 7 shows would be recorded at the same time.

For example....last week it didn't do this....but I don't think at any point last week there was a time when it would have needed a 7th tuner.

I'm wondering if maybe TiVo is working on a feature to share overlapping data on from back to back shows, but it's currently disabled but somehow being accidentally triggered and causing these weird glitches.

If so that would be a welcome update as long as they can work out the bugs.

That would be cool. The only reason I was in this situation was because I have to pad shows to not miss the endings.

It does seem to make it look like Tivo is trying something. I mean....there is NO reason to have Brooklyn Nine Nine AND New Girl AND Mindy all in the same recording. By the time Mindy rolled around.....Brooklyn Nine Nine was long over.....so it's clear that Tivo took the recording it had of just Brooklyn and New Girl and used that on Mindy.

Weird.

So far I've recorded a bunch of new shows and have needed zero padding. Brooklyn Nine Nine was one of them. Hostages, Sleepy Hollow, SHIELD, DAD's, etc. No padding needed. The entire show gets recorded without adding extra time.

Yeah I did notice that most of the Fox shows were ending on time. But I don't trust the networks.....sooner or later they will start messing with them.

That's one of the main reasons I got the Roamio....so I could just pad everything. Tuesdays are kind of a rare case with so many shows taping. Most other nights don't have that many all at once. That and I have no idea about some of these new shows.....usually a few get cancelled anyway.
