The Tudors: Worth watching? (BBCA marathon airing)

Trying to line up some summer viewing...

BBCA is running all 38 "The Tudors" next weekend, May 21/22, start to finish. Seems like a great chance to grab 'em, if they're worth watching.

For those that did, was it worth it? Or do you wish you had 38 hours of your life back? For those that started and quit, why?

Feel free to comment as specifically as you like. Spoilers are probably moot at this point in time, as I heard Henry VIII eventually died.:D

PS: This appears to be the same show that was originally broadcast on Showtime from April 2007 to November 2010.

My wife and I thought it was great when we watched it on Showtime. I say it's well worth the time to watch. The acting was great and the production values, like costumes and set design, were fantastic. When on Showtime, it had a lot of nudity and sex scenes which I'm sure will be cut out of the BBCA version.

Uggh, I hadn't even thought about it being edited. I refuse to watch edited version of (almost) any show. This would be a deal-killer to me. I'll see if they flash up the "This show has been..." disclaimer at the beginning.

If you have Netflix streaming, the whole series is available there. It would be uneditted, commercial free and probably in HD (or at least widescreen).

I found it an enjoyable watch overall. More sex early. More politics and intrique later.

He got married around 6 times, depending on what you count as a marriage. :)

No Netflix. I'm an old-fashioned cable/antenna kinda guy.
Who doesn't know this? :D I can remember a Rick Wakeman neo-prog-rock album from the 70s--The Six Wives of Henry VIII. Great album, btw!

Do we know for sure BBCA edits? I recorded a free-standing episode (ie, not part of the marathon, which is a week away) just to check it out, and it had a violence/language disclaimer at the beginning, but no "edited for..." comment. Which I thought they had to display if it was edited.

OTOH, there was no nekkid bodies disclaimer either.:(

So... does BBCA ever show nudity when it's part of a show?

PS: From what I understand, Netflix thru TiVo doesn't display captions. I'm a 100% captions kinda guy.:)

Do they have to say whether the show is edited? Syndicated shows are usually edited and they don't say they are edited. I thought that was just for movies.

Ok, I recorded a couple of random episodes, and they are clearly edited. I really don't care about boobs and butts (well, I do, but it's not a factor when choosing shows to watch:)), but I don't like to watch edited series.

I still have all 46 (48?) Breaking Bads on one of my older TiVos, that I keep telling myself I'm gonna watch. From an AMC marathon some time ago.

Breaking Bad is AWESOME. Start watching NOW. The new season begins this summer (July, I think), so you should be caught up!
